The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) was a scheme introduced by the UK government in January 2020 to replace the previous Feed-in Tariff scheme for small-scale renewable energy generators. This means that homeowners and business owners who generate electricity through renewable sources such as solar panels can sell any excess electricity back to the grid and receive payment from their energy supplier.
